jus came back from YLS which was held at RELC int'l hotel yesterday..but im still feeling de effects of it..de hangover caused me to have ten hrs of sleep at nite..n den another 2 hrs in the afternoon..
im still feeling a heavy head on mi shoulders rite now..perhaps lightweight in de wrong sense..
YLS is n i suppose alwaes will be a wonderful experience for me despite its tight schedule and very heavy content..but considering de fact that i came to YLS w/o expecting anithing out of it(aka unmotivated), i was pleasantly surprised..n i have to admit that i came out from every lecture wanting to know wat was going to be next n how it was gonna develop me as a better Muslim in servitude to Allah..thee speaker's list was sincerely like a who's who in the Muslim community..namely ppl like Dr Aidit Ghazali, Dr Al-Bakri, Ustaz Zhulkeflee, Bro Tariq Misso n so on..i wont say it all of course..bec if i did, i wud most prob take up an hr of mi time..lol
Dr Bakri's talk was a nice reminder for me personally..i felt that it was helpful bec stimes as Muslims, we forget the reasons n importance of da'wah..n it changed mi mindset on how to approach the seminar as a whole..then was Dr Abdul Ja'afar who related how he combined da'wah n work which was even more inspiring...ever heard of "sunathon"? haha..yep its a sunat marathon that he as a renowned cardio-surgeon n doctor in one did wif his fellow professionals..n he proved to us altogether on how da'wah as an obligation cud still b done in de line of work..impressive indeed
den dere was Ustaz Hannan Hassan who explained on how impt that we made sure the method of da'wah was effective..n this had to come frm recognising the needs of the target audience esp..n oso the need for continual self-improvement n communication to the community..in other words, stay relevant :) ...Dr Aidit Ghazali then gave us tips on how to strategically place our da'wah n maximising our potential to increase effectiveness in it all..
n i was jus getting started..n overwhelmed of course..
there was this ang-moh dr wayne who xplained dat creativity cud b taught..n he was super funny n captivating during his presentation..continually engaging n capturing the audience which was realli sthing i wished to emulate.. :p but of course...kena slow n steady la
but i was realli zonked out by de end of day 1..which explained y i cudnt pay attention for marketing which was the last lecture..i was literally saturated..lol
the next subsequent days were altogether enriching to me too..but of course, the greater learning point came in the ideas that we came up in hope for the submission to ENVISAGE..it was very brain draining of course..i mean, try coming up with a concept paper(some sort..actually its a project brief) in less than 2 days when u had actually no idea on wat it was supposed to cater to(namely the mentor organizations..)
day 3 was gd too..esp bro tariq n ustaz zhul..bro tariq misso was at his usal best n felt..continually making the audience tink n engage rather than making us sit down n listen to him all de time..which was very much needed considering the participants were realli spent on day 3 aft finishing up their proj brief..n sumhow or another, i managed to muster enuff strength to listen to ustaz zhul with an open mind(bec i tot his last talk at ntu iftar wasnt that relevant)..n it was gd n i managed to get a few more pointers.."Teach ppl what they need, not what they want to know"..hmm,,,deep huh? but when u tink abt it..sumhow it will click inside ur head..
n of cos..i have to admit dat i learnt a lot from my fellow members as well..their mindset, opinions n much more were really enriching to me as it helped me understand them better n which approach they were coming from..n of course kakak faci was really great!!! continually motivating us n spurring us for the nest step..although i tink din oso slept bec of some of dem..lol
its a well-spent 3 days i felt..although prob PERGAS wont agree with me cos as a result, i missed my hafalan..he he..i guess i will have to take it next sem..but nvrtheless, i need to start studying soon bec im having my fiqh n akhlaq exams dis week..phew! but like i wud always stand by to
"The most excellent Jihad is that for the conquest of the self"
so there..dats pretty long enuff..if i did miss anithin, well too bad..some were jus for my own memories.. :)
Peace out..
